Privacy policy

Effective date: 30 April 2026

Version Zero is a trading style of Bright Sustainability Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy explains what we collect when you use versionzero.co.uk, why we collect it, and what rights you have.

Who we are

Data controller: Bright Sustainability Ltd, trading as Version Zero.
Company number: 15484715 (registered in England and Wales).
Registered office: 75 Royal Court Drive, Bolton, England, BL1 4AZ.
Contact for privacy matters: William Marshall — will@versionzero.co.uk.

What we collect

We collect two types of information:

1. Information you give us. When you contact us through the website, by email, or by booking a call, we collect the details you choose to share — typically your name, email address, business name, and the contents of your message.

2. Information collected automatically. If you consent to analytics cookies, we collect aggregated, pseudonymised data about how you use the site — pages viewed, time on page, referring source, approximate location (city level), device and browser. We do not collect this data unless you opt in via the cookie banner. See our cookie policy for the full list.

Why we use your data

We use the information you give us to respond to your enquiry, send you the audit or proposal you've asked for, and — if we agree to work together — to deliver the project and invoice you. We use analytics data to understand which pages people find useful so we can keep improving the site.

Lawful bases: we rely on consent for analytics cookies, on legitimate interests for responding to your direct enquiries, and on contract or legal obligation where you become a client.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the small number of trusted processors that help us operate the business — for example, our email and hosting providers, Google Analytics for opt-in analytics, and our accountant for invoicing. Each of these providers handles data under their own contractual obligations. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to respond and follow up — typically up to 24 months unless you become a client, in which case we retain it for the duration of the engagement plus the period required by UK tax and contract law (currently six years). Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default in Google Analytics.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, request its deletion, restrict or object to its processing, and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email will@versionzero.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we've handled your data unlawfully.

International transfers

Some of our processors (including Google) are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by the UK adequacy regulations or by the standard contractual clauses approved by the Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. If we make a material change, we will notify clients we have an active engagement with by email.
